This past summer, I had the opportunity to attend a wedding photography retreat in Greenwood, South Carolina. The day consisted of multiple editorial styled shoots at Abney Hall. Sitting on 500 acres of land, the venue is known for its French-inspired courtyard and elegantly decorated house. A location of this level of luxury, made for the perfect day of sessions.

What is a styled shoot?


I captured the following images during the second styled shoot of the day. For those of you who are unfamiliar, styled shoots are essentially an opportunity for photographers to build their portfolios, learn from other professionals, and experiment in a risk-free environment.

As someone who is still relatively new to wedding photography, I was so thankful for the opportunity to gain more experience and shoot in an entirely new environment. AND, as someone who absolutely adores The Parent Trap, I was obsessed with the vision board for this session.

Candle-Lit Romance


Carlea completely stole my breath with her 90's-inspired A-line gown topped with an Elizabeth James-inspired hat that had me thinking we were shooting a high-fashion magazine spread. The entire look screamed luxury, old money romance, and I am STILL not over it. Thanks to the incredible teams at Black Tie Events and Love Club Collectives, every single detail felt like it belonged in a Meredith Blake fever dream. The sophistication, the attention to detail, the way everything came together to create this elevated, timeless aesthetic? Pure perfection.

From the luxurious indoor portraits surrounded by exquisite details to the whimsical garden moments by the fountains, every single moment of this styled shoot felt like I was capturing genuine 90's romance.
